We at Cambridge Schola are passionate about sharing our love for singing. Thanks to the generosity of Deloitte LLP we have been able to launch our “Sing with Schola” pilot project, which sees a pair of our students going on a weekly basis into a local school to help with a KS2 choir and to set up a brand new KS1 choir.
"I'm immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to be one of the first to participate in the scheme. Our confidence and presenting skills have grown so much, and it's been incredible to see the choir progress and gain confidence with us." Dani, one of our students
We have been so fortunate to partner with the brilliant Bellbird Primary School, Sawston, for this pilot year for the project, but we hope to expand to more schools and more students in the coming years. We believe that this can be a powerful model for how arts organisations such as Cambridge Schola can act as an inspiration for music in schools, and to provide musical excellence and experience in the classroom.
“I have absolutely loved going in each week for singing assembly and choir- seeing how much singing brightens up the children’s days is really heartwarming, and it is so lovely to watch their musical development as they grow. Watching even the more shy kids coming out of their shells for choir each week has been so rewarding. Converting those who weren’t so keen to be at choir at first, who are now some of the most confident singers in the choir has been particularly special.” Katherine, one of our students
Child 1 (to me): Can we name our choir?
Me: Yes, what were you thinking?
Child 2: Super Choir!
